The Printing Process (A Tiger)

Printing is done in stages utilizing a series of separate woodblocks(Kakeai-zuri), a technique developed during the Edo period (1603-1867). The result is a carefully registered multi-colored woodblock print.

1.Print outlines and patterns in ink 2.Print the tiger's body in light yellow 3.Print the body in dark orange 4.Print patterns and part of background in India ink 5.Print nose and mouth in vermilion 6.Print the background and part of face in light India ink 7.Print the moss in green 8.Print face and nails in heavy India ink for emphasis
